In the event of injury or sickness the covered student must first report to the Health Center. The Health Center will provide treatment or give a referral to seek care off campus. Eligible expenses incurred for medical care or treatment rendered outside the Health Center for which no referral is obtained may be excluded from coverage. If you are unable to visit the campus health center, use providers in the PPO network whenever possible.
It is best to locate an in-network doctor, urgent care center, and emergency room near you before you get sick. To find a PPO provider, call (800) 468-4343 or visit the Cigna website (link below).
- From the top right of the screen next to search box, click on “Find a Doctor, Dentist or Facility.”
- Click on link that reads, “Plans through your employer or school.”
- Under “Search Location” enter your city and state or ZIP code.
- Under “Select a Plan” choose “PICK.” Expand the Medical Plans option and select “Open Access Plus” then click on “Choose”; click “Search”.
- Select a doctor from the list.
Always check with the doctor or medical facility directly to confirm that they accept Cigna before you receive treatment.
Pharmacy benefits are managed by Express Scripts. Express Scripts pharmacies include Rite-Aid, Walgreens, CVS, Walmart, Albertsons, and many others. Please see the Express Scripts website (link below) to find a participating pharmacy near you, or call (800) 447-9638.
To fill a prescription, visit any Express Scripts network pharmacy and pay the copay. If you visit a non-network provider, it will not be covered by the plan. Only prescriptions filled at a network pharmacy are covered.
In most cases, the provider will submit the claim for you.
If you are required to pay for services up front, you will need to complete a claim form in order to be reimbursed by the insurance company.
